What is a home inspection?

A home inspection is is a non-invasive, visual examination of the accessible areas of a residential property and its systems, from the foundation to the roof. A home inspection is designed to identify defects within specific systems and components defined by the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) Standards of Practice that are both observed and deemed material by the inspector. This includes:

  • Attic (Insulation and Ventilation)
  • Basement / Foundation / Crawlspace / Structure
  • Deck
  • Doors and Windows
  • Electrical System
  • Exterior
  • Fireplace
  • Garage
  • Heating/Cooling System
  • Interior
  • Outlying Buildings
  • Plumbing System
  • Sidewalks and Driveways
  • Pool
  • Roof

It may include other structures on the property, and can be combined with testing for radon, and wood destroying organisms (termites, etc.)

After the inspection process, Downey Inspections will send the client an inspection report that covers the inspection, complete with pictures, analysis and recommendations.
